No longer found
beneath the ground,
the bandit of the meadow;
but off in space
a lonesome place
I play Shepard of the Shadow.
And yet you still
for callous thrill
cast me from my place,
excuses abound
but cannot be found
the nerve to meet my face.

that policies born

so it must be,

Hypocrisy thrives
though Earth denies
duplicitous, backwards standards.
My name is smeared,
unjustly feared,
my rank so rudely slandered.
To Earth, say I,

injustices old and new

alive with the death of Perseus

The celestial heavens in pensive ecstasy
drizzle and storm to the lilt
of the silence of cicadas and crickets.
And still,
still within the soaring grass the lonesome astronomer
a child once more embraces
the kiss of mosquitoes and the scrape of
bark as but another worry for yet another day.
They come now, erratic.
They fall now, ordained.
Fragments of beauty gone by,
of beauty buried,
of beauty burning in ephemeral majesty.
They blaze for but an instant befo

The Hourglass
Time is but a fickle essence,
A tiny grain of sand.
One amidst the many crumbs
That slip between our hands.
Each and every moment,
Nothing on its own,
Holds within a certain beauty,
A gift so rarely shown.
Each and every grain of time,
A beacon in the dark;
Sometimes shining, sometimes hiding,
Sometimes a burning mark.
As they trickle, as they fall,
The hourglass stands fast.
We continue blinded to our future,
And heedless of our past.
As they amass upon the bottom
And our lives begin to thin,
Will we grasp at fallen grains,
Or find a strength within?

If
Take a breath and think.
If the world were to end tomorrow
And you could save but one person,
Who would it be?
A parent? A sibling?
A friend or a stranger?
Someone you care for,
Or who can shield you from danger?
Be careful now of whom you choose,
For many would seek to save their love.
Instinct makes us protective
Over that we value most.
But to be alone is pain enough,
The nights are cold; the land is rough.
Would you put your love through fear and grief?
Or spare them death as sweet relief?
I stall you here to call your bluff.
The sorrow of loss of life and home,
To be the helpless cause
"Being a graduate student is like becoming all of the Seven Dwarves. In the beginning you're Dopey and Bashful. In the middle, you are usually sick (Sneezy), tired (Sleepy), and irritable (Grumpy). But at the end, they call you Doc, and then you're Happy."

Ugh... I hope this is just one of those moments that will make for an inspirational story later down in life
